So much has happened....

That's what happens when you go almost 3 months without blogging. Dang, where to begin...

1. Finally got to see my nephew, hold the baby, he's awesome, you can see the only picture of me and him together on my facebook...

2. Some good friends of mine, Andy and Savanna Carr, had their first baby, Josiah Andrew Carr. He's a little thang, and the fact that they let Andy take him home still confounds me. They also moved back to Kentucky, so it's just a short little drive to see them, instead of having to plan a big weekend trip...

3. Got to throw out a ceremonial first pitch at a baseball game! It was a lot of fun, some buddies (Ben Carr and Todd Phillips) and I made a video to promote the deal, it turned out good for the little time we spent to make it. The pitch was a strike, I think, and it was really cool to have that opportunity...

4. Big News, YourAverageJoe will be leaving Christian Family Radio in a few weeks. I wondered if this day would ever come, and now it's quickly coming. I have loved working at this station, and with the great staff that are here. They won't be hurtin' too bad, as they've already hired my replacement. I will miss them all, and CFR will get it's own blog entry in the near future...

5. I'm giving up CFR because I'M THE NEW VOICE OF THE BOWLING GREEN PURPLES!!! It's an amazing opportunity that has somehow fallen in my lap. I will be doing play-by-play duties for Football and Boys and Girls Basketball. All 3 teams have a legit chance to make noise on the state level, Football is expecting at least a trip to the state semis, and both basketball teams are poised to make state (meaning if they do, I'll be calling games in Diddle and Rupp Arena!!).

6. With leaving CFR, I'll have a lot more free time, with weekends free and only 1-2 nights a week doing radio stuff. I'm excited to become more active in my church, meeting new people, and actually doing something besides work for a change. I've also used the station as a crutch for not doing stuff in the past, now that excuse will be out of the way, and I'm excited about that.

7. I got a new phone, that's kinda cool. The Samsung Captivate. It's hyped to be the AT&T Android phone to battle the iPhone4, and I like it a lot.

8. Musically, I'm just thinking of songs that are stuck in my head. Tal and Acacia's "Garbage In" is stuck in there, as well as a couple of songs from Jason Derulo. I know he ain't a Christian artist, but dangit, it's catchy. He's the current day Ne-Yo, who I saw as the Usher of his times. Third Day is gonna have a CD out pretty soon, and I've been told every song could be a hit on the radio. The first one "Lift up your face" is pretty good, ya know, if you like Third Day, which I do, so that's good.

That's all I know for now...

  1. Congrats on the Purples gig! Are those going to stream like your show with CFR does?
